HELL YES there's been TONS of direct and subtle hints to stay away from anyone who is no longer active. The most recent broadcast once again demonstrates how friends are to spy on eachothers social media or any other way possible--- if YOU are NOT LIVING UP TO IT, YOU WILL BE IGNORED. I did the same as you, started fading in the fall of 2015 and the soft shunning started within a few months, then it went to all out ignore (nearly run away type stuff) and now its evident we want NOTHING to do with it- so we are treated as if we are the walking dead (I guess to them we are). So, again to answer your question- it doesn't always take a direct command "unfriend people who don't go" since this cult gets into the MIND so deeply. People are programmed at EVERY SINGLE MEETING. They will just instinctively drop you like a hot potato. They've been programmed to. You are no longer a robot and they sense it. But as you well know--->> WHO CARES right??? LIVE LOVE LAUGH for real!

They were raised as JW's and left about 5 years ago, but harsh shunning began more recently... so sounds like they faded and then it went downhill from there for them.. This is TRAGIC to say the least.

this was on the front page of freep.com this morning - sadly there are some factual errors in this article that people will jump on (not allowed to go to college was in original article for instance - hopefully the reporter will correct it).

interesting reading the comments below the article - all kinds of opinions.

Agree with Sir82 above---

It depends on the hall you go to as to whether or not they will frown on college or turn a blind eye. However, think about it, about 5 years ago Mr. Tight Pants Tony was really coming down on higher education, so they may have really had issues. We knew of several families in our old hall that became inactive since they wanted kids to go to college (their son was removed from pioneer list and had no privileges for going to community college)

People tend to miss vital words: Number one, the title. Its a suggestion of the friends that the shunning may have pushed this woman to murder. So, NO--- I personally do not think the writer was out of line in her report. She provided background info as to the possible reasons WHY she may have lost it, and did not excuse the woman of the heinous crime it was--- however, when you kill yourself and your family- hell YES- you have serious mental illness. Well, geeeeesh people--- Most Jehovah's Witnesses do suffer with mental illness and yes, some have gone overboard as we all know... it's about time those freakin idiots in NY answer for this crap!!! Shove these articles and tons of other ones up their rear ends. I am so sick of reading about stuff like this and the child abuse etc and they continue to sit on their high ass thrown's in Warwick. They are sick bastards.

I HATE JW funerals

jw funeral last night.

it was about half an hour from start to finish.

I hear you loud and clear. Just attended a dear friends funeral (they were unaware of me being faded out since we live in different states) The funeral was terrible... just TERRIBLE. I would say there was about 4 minutes of talking about the deceased in this one and then BAM straight into the cult propaganda. I felt physically nauseous! Afterward it was so surreal--- people just went about the hall like they had just got done with a boring stupid meeting... it was pathetic. I can't tell you how glad I am to be awake and out of all that BS!! Even in DEATH the WT has say over you... its just sooooo sick.

Find Family Happiness ... NOT!

the other day my wife and i were in sonoma.

we were just walking around enjoying the pleasant afternoon in the quaint, old downtown area when i saw two jw women standing by their “witnessing cart.” .

normally, i just ignore them whenever i see jws standing by a cart, but i gotta admit it: this time it really bugged me because of the title on the cart: find family happiness.

I would not have been able to hold back either--- however, I would have been more calm when approaching. I would have said I love the title of their little cart, and how I wish I could agree that this was the case with JW's, but its NOT. How does shunning family create happiness... etc etc

THIS FACE on TV started my WAKE UP PROCESS. Had no idea who the hell this buffoon was until he showed his face on the broadcast... next, Tony Morris tight pants talk, the odd mentions of child abuse on the broadcast, and finally the Australian Royal Commission sealed the deal. So glad to be awake from this!!!

Mental clarity---- YOU ARE TOTALLY RIGHT! Good points. In a way, helping someone become "weak" may prove a great way to help them wake... lol How about suggesting a little family get a way on the weekends and skip service and the meetings... yEsssssSSS lol
